Press release from Western Kentucky University: September 1, 2021 Dr. Cynthia Palmer Mason, Professor, School Counseling Clinical Coordinator (Spring practicum), Rank I Coordinator with the Department of Counseling and Student Affairs will be honored by The Historical Society of Hopkins County. Dr. Mason has been chosen as one of the "Hopkins County Women of Note" for her career in education. She will be profiled in the 2021 Fall Journal and honorees will be recognized during the next regular Historical Society meeting. Her positions in the school system include classroom teacher, school counselor, Madisonville North Hopkins High School Counseling Department Chair, Advanced Placement Coordinator, and College Board Representative. Dr. Mason started working at WKU in 1997. As a faculty member, she has been actively involved at the department, college, and university level. Her research interests include the implementation of comprehensive, developmental school counseling programs; the essence of choice theory, reality therapy, and lead management principles in schools; and efforts to decrease the academic achievement gap in P-12 schools.
