Oswego Police, Fire Will Hold 20th Anniversary 9/11 Memorial

OSWEGO, IL — The Oswego Police Department and Oswego Fire Protection District are holding a memorial service to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that left 2,977 people dead. Of those who died during the attacks, 343 were firefighters and 71 were police officers, Oswego officials said. The service, starting at 10 a.m. Sept. 11, will take place at the Oswego Public Safety Campus, 3511 Woolley Road, officials announced Friday. The tribute is expected to last 30 minutes and will include short readings, a memorial flag lowering and a rifle salute. Local high school students will play taps and the Fire Department Pipes and Drums will play bagpipes as well.
