CONCORD, NH — After testing negative with three various coronavirus tests but still exhibiting flu-like symptoms, Gov. Chris Sununu has been admitted to Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Jayne Millerick, the governor's chief of staff, issued a statement Friday morning saying Sununu was being evaluated, "as a precautionary measure to determine the cause" of the symptoms he had been experiencing this week. About four hours later, she issued another statement saying he had been admitted for additional testing. "He is in good spirits and confident in his care," she said. Sununu was in Kentucky on Monday with a number of other state and health officials checking out the state's response to a surge in COVID-19 cases. The day before, the governor spent the day on the Conway Scenic Railroad as part of his Super 603 Tour post-inaugural celebration. Great to see so many families aboard the @ConwayScenicRR this weekend, to thank them for all they've done this past year and the challenges they've overcome. Senate President Chuck Morse (R-Salem) said the governor was in his family's thoughts. "I am hoping he has a quick and complete recovery," he said. "The entire Senate sends its best wishes to him, and I know people all across New Hampshire are keeping him in their prayers." Here is everything else going on in New Hampshire right now. "As we focus every day on our essential mission to safely and reliably serve our customers while being responsible environmental stewards, I also look forward to collaborating with our dedicated employees and stakeholders across the state to advance a clean energy future that benefits all customers." The company's CEO, Joe Nolan, called Foley a "hands-on leader" who will bring "a wealth of experience and knowledge" to the state's team. Journalist's Killer Pleads Guilty Alexanda Amon Kotey, one of the men responsible for the death of New Hampshire journalist James Foley, as well as others, has pleaded guilty. Kotey, 37, pleaded guilty to eight charges and will spend the rest of his life in prison, according to the New York Post. U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) said she was encouraged to see the justice system hold terrorists accountable. "My thoughts are with the Foley family, especially his mother Diane who has been an unyielding force to seek justice for her son, as this entire process has been tremendously stressful for his loved ones and other ISIS victims' families," she said. I'll continue to advocate on behalf of the families of James Foley, Peter Kassig, Steven Sotloff and Kayla Mueller until they all have their day in court." Get Ready To Hit The Road New Hampshire State Police will be out on the roads, making sure everyone is safe this holiday weekend. WMUR-TV has this report. Local Control And The Mask Debate New Hampshire is not like a lot of state's where public policies with education and schooling are top down. When it comes to districts, there is local control, with the exception of some standards, criteria, and education rules, whether or not a community has 500 people or 50,000. This can create, as NHPR reported on Friday, a double-edged sword when it comes to the COVID-19 mask mandates. At the same time, what is good for Milan might not be good for Manchester.
