JOLIET, IL — A 32-year-old Rockdale man is now in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say he had a gun stolen from Wisconsin. Joliet officers arrested Limell Freeman on Thursday morning after a traffic stop on Joliet's far west side near Von Esch Road and Prieboy Avenue.
Freeman is charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a stolen gun and marijuana possession, police said.
The Rockdale man was riding as a passenger when the car was stopped for a traffic violation around 10:35 a.m., Joliet police said.
"During the stop, officers detected an odor of burnt cannabis coming from the interior of the vehicle," Joliet police announced. "Upon search of the vehicle, officers recovered a handgun under the seat that Freeman had just been seated."
In this case, Joliet police said a bag of marijuana was recovered from the vehicle. Police officers later learned that the gun was reported stolen in Wisconsin.
Freeman was booked into county detention around 1:45 p.m. He lives in the Rockdale apartment units in the 1400 block of Belleview Avenue, jail logs show.
