DARIEN, IL — In recent days, Darien police have handled cases involving armed violence, domestic battery, felony retail theft and driving violations. Here is information from the latest Darien police reports: Armed violence Joaquin Garcia, 19, of Bolingbrook, was arrested about 3:30 p.m. Aug. 25 on Plainfield Road on charges of armed violence, marijuana possession with intent to deliver, driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured vehicle, unlawful display of registration, no valid registration, improper display of license and improper lane usage. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. Garcia was driving a Dodge Challenger. Because many Dodge vehicles are being stolen, an officer tried to catch Garcia to check his registration. Domestic battery Levern Glover, 38, of Williston, South Carolina, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Sunday at Extended Stay America hotel, 2345 Sokol Court, on a charge of domestic battery causing bodily harm and being a fugitive from justice and on Clayton County, South Carolina, warrants charging assault with a firearm, battery and trespassing. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. Felony retail theft Amontae Williams, 20, and Kaya Hudgins, 18, both of Chicago, were arrested about 7 p.m. Sunday at Walmart, 2189 75th St., on charges of felony retail theft. They were accused of failing to scan items at the self-checkout and not paying for them. The items were valued at more than $300. They were taken to the DuPage County Jail. Car part removed A catalytic converter was removed from a car between 1:30 p.m. Aug. 21 and 10:45 a.m. Aug. 22 in a parking lot at the Farmingdale Apartments in the 7600 block of Sussex Creek Drive. The loss was estimated at $300. The metals in catalytic converters have become a lot more valuable in the last year. Car damage A rear passenger window and door of a car were scratched between 11 p.m. Aug. 25 and 12:30 p.m. Aug. 26 in the 8200 block of Ripple Ridge Drive. Driving violations An accident happened shortly before noon Saturday at Cass Avenue at Concord Place. One of the drivers, Jahamal Rainey, 40, of DeKalb, was cited on a charge of driving without a valid driver's license. He was released and given a date to appear in court. Matthew Kurt, 57, of Downers Grove, was cited about noon Aug. 27 in the 7100 block of Cass Avenue on charges of driving with a revoked license, no valid registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released and given a date to appear in court. Rosalind Martinez, 49, of Berwyn, was cited about 3 p.m. Aug. 27 in the 7500 block of Lyman Avenue on charges of driving with a suspended license and disobeying a traffic control device. She was released and given a date to appear in court. Donada Campbell, 52, of Woodridge, was cited about 8 a.m. Saturday in the 8700 block of Lemont Road on charges of no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding. She was speeding 65 mph in a 40 mph zone. She was released and given a date to appear in court. Sierra Campbell, 22, of Chicago, was cited about 11:30 a.m. Saturday on Cass Avenue at Interstate 55 on charges of driving with a suspended license and speeding. She was clocked speeding 70 mph in a 40 mph zone. She was released and given a date to appear in court. Police report information is provided by local police departments.
