Press release from the City of Rye: 09/02/2021 4:11 PM Not all the experts have spoken, but LaGuardia Airport characterized Ida's passage last night as a 50-year storm event; Westchester Airport scored it at 25 years.  I think we all would be happy to wait at least that long without a repeat. It was a tough, downright frightening night for many of us, and not soon forgotten.  My thanks to all I spoke to today, positive, despite the storm. Our streets are mostly passable. But, at last look, the following still are not: -North Street at Greenwood Union -Midland from Peck to Port Chester -Theodore Fremd from Elm to Purchase -Park Avenue near the Harrison line The County is attempting a quick repair of the severely damaged Fremd -- something we will all cheer. All our bridges are now open except Central Avenue. As always, please avoid downed wires, heed City barricades and don't attempt to drive through flooded streets.  Information on the location of abandoned cars is available from the police: 914-967-1234. Con Ed is beginning to post estimated restoration times, outage by outage.  Customers should be notified directly by Con Ed. There will be regular Friday garbage pickup tomorrow, along with water-damaged items along the Friday route, but no recycling pickup.  There will be City-wide pickup of water-damaged goods on Saturday.  A garbage truck will be parked at the recycling center tomorrow as a receptacle for any garbage that was missed today. The Damiano cooling/rest facility will close at 5 pm today. Our leaf blower restriction is lifted through next Thursday to facilitate clean-up. Unrelated to the storm, but in deference to COVID, the State Legislature is again permitting virtual meetings - which we will reinstitute. Our City staff, our DPW, Police Department and Fire Department once again did a tremendous job on our behalf and have our collective thanks.
