Want to learn winemaking now? 2Hawk Vineyard & Winery is looking for temporary Harvest personnel. This is an opportunity to observe and learn how we craft our award-winning estate wines in the most technologically advanced winery in the valley. These temporary positions start immediately and run through the end of October. Responsibilities: • Complete work assignments and work orders under direct supervision of Winemaker and Cellar Supervisor. • Perform all aspects of seasonal harvest-related duties as assigned including, but not limited to, additions to fermentations; cap management; barrel filling and emptying; organizing and storing wine lots; vineyard, tank, and fermentation sampling; properly and accurately completing work assignments and tracking documents. • Follow standard operating procedures in the performance of cellar activities to ensure maximum productivity and wine quality goals are achieved, including maintenance of all equipment in the cellar (pumps, process equipment, tanks, valves, machinery, etc.) • Carry out proper techniques for cleaning, sanitizing and storing wine equipment as well as operational set-ups for routine winery work, such as fruit processing, wine and juice transfer, tank preparations, topping, etc. • Monitor and maintain proper winery sanitation and sanitary barrel storage conditions. • Maintain tracking documentation of wine production. • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Qualifications: • Degree or enrollment in a Winemaking program preferred, but not required. • Excellent math skills. • Ability to communicate effectively as an individual and as part of a team. • Working knowledge of wine production equipment operation, sanitation, and maintenance preferred, but not required. • Working knowledge of wine additives and winery chemicals and their proper use and handling preferred, but not required. • Knowledge of chemical SDS warnings and proper safety methods of performing chemical additions. • Ability to work flexible, sometimes long, hours including weekends. • Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and lift 55 pounds. • A commitment to excellence, high standards, and attention to detail. • A desire to learn about growing and producing luxury wine. • A “can do” attitude with a strong work ethic and integrity. • Present a neat, professional appearance. • Valid U.S. driver’s license and proof of employment eligibility.
