Description

At Cbus Concert, Trio Will Mix Musical Styles, Storytelling, and even Continents What do you get when you mix elements of folk, blues, classical, jazz, and rock music….and then combine storytelling lyrics, complex instrumentation, and earthy vocals? You get the Nashville-based trio, South for Winter. The young trio features a New Zealander, a classically-trained cellist, and members who wrote their first song together on a rooftop in Peru, so their musical influences are eclectic. That, plus their talent, is why they’ve racked up awards as “emerging” musical artists and have won rave reviews for their 2020 crowd-funded album, Luxumbra. Sponsored by the Columbus Folk Music Society, South for Winter will appear in person at the Columbus Mennonite Church, 35 Oakland Park Avenue on Saturday Sept 25 at 8 p.m. IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to capacity limits linked to Covid, pre-registration is required at eventbrite.com. $15 suggested donation at the door. You must be vaccinated and wear a mask. As usual, the featured act will be preceded by a one-hour segment of open mic performers, starting at 7 p.m. But due to health concerns, there will be no jamming or community sing along. Questions?
