ASSISTANT DIRECTOR Just Like Home Daycare Center is looking for an experience Assistant Director. If interested please submit your resume and 3 personal and professional references to Just Like Home Daycare Center of Lakewood located at 7511 Custer Rd W. 98499 PH: FAX: (2530 327-1248 GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Child Care program facility and supervision of staff. This supervisory position is responsible for direct supervision of staff and kids. Work situations require leadership, independent thinking, and the use of discretion, good judgment, and independent decision making. Major decisions are subject to the review and approval of the Director. This position supervises Teachers, Teacher Assistants, and children. External contacts include outside agencies and organizations in the coordination of program events, training, etc. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES - Oversees the daily operations of the center, assuring high quality child care services are provided and that each child and parent is treated with dignity and respect Maintains a caring and safe environment for children, reviewing and evaluating established programs, policies and procedures for effectiveness Implementing, and supervising developmental programs that meet the needs of the total child with concerns for the child's interests, handicaps, special talents, and individual style and pace of learning Assures that classroom programs, staff, and child care are geared to the appropriate age level and needs of the classroom children, maintaining a supportive, stimulating, and caring environment Oversees and manages the daily operations of the Center in the absence of the Director Provides back-up for teachers to assure proper staff/child ratios are maintained - Oversees staff providing direction and guidance, and administering management functions within the provisions of Just Like Home policies and standards and federal, state and local regulations Assist with regular scheduled staff meetings Keeps abreast of research and developments in the field of early childhood education Oversees, and evaluates the effectiveness of programs, ordered appearance, decoration, and learning environment of the classrooms, providing input and recommendations to the continued improvement Handles or assist/facilitates progressive guidance issues with staff, documenting and formulating development plans - Participates in Child Care Center wide quality monitoring and improvement activities Assists in the ongoing evaluation of the child care delivery systems Participates in the development of standards which improve the quality, appropriateness, efficiency, and outcomes of child care - Develops and maintains effective and active parent-child care center relationship Tours and orientates new and prospective parents and children to the Child Care Center - Participates in all aspects of child abuse prevention Protects the children and JLHDC by avoiding engaging in verbal or nonverbal abuse with children. Reports all suspected child abuse to the Director. - Contributes to the success of the organization, keeping current on new developments within the JLHDC, and by performing other duties as needed or assigned BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS - Pursues Excellence - Focuses on Children and Customer Service - Ensures Safety - Fosters a healthy workplace MANAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS - Provides Leadership - Optimizes Financial and Operational Performance - Develops Talent - Manages Information - Leads Change EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - AA degree in Early Childhood Education or CDA (Accepted) or Minimum 45 ECE Credits (Accepted) - Two to five years experience working in a child care environment with experience in planning and implementing programs. - Supervisor experience preferred - Minimum age of 21 years (WA State licensing requirement) - Current First Aid, CPR, and Food Handler's certification Duration: Full Time Maximum hours per week: 40 Skills Desired: -Good oral, written and interpersonal communication -Work efficiently under pressure -Work independently -Meet the physical, mental, emotional and social needs of children under care
