Description
Late last night Texas House Republicans passed their social media "must carry hate" bill, as expected.
But in the process they also expressly voted to *ban* FB, Twitter from removing:
- Holocaust denial
- domestic terrorism, and
- vaccine disinfo.
Dem Rep. @Jon_RosenthalTX
also offered a carve-out amendment to allow FB, Twitter, YT to remove domestic and international terrorist speech.
Republicans defeated it, 49-69.
Dem Rep. @DonnaHowardTX
offered a carve-out amendment to allow FB, Twitter, YT to remove vaccine misinformation.
Republicans defeated it, 43-73.
And then, as I mentioned, Texas Republicans went on to approve the underlying social media "must carry hate" bill, by a vote of 76-44. for leading Texas Dems to stand firm against Republicans' "Must Carry Hate Online" bill....while Republicans stood up for free speech for terrorists and Holocaust deniers.

How does Texas have the power to make rules for Social media platform that are not based in Texas?
It doesn’t. You’ll see this ridiculous piece of legislation being thrown out by the courts almost as soon as Abbott signs it into law.
I personally don’t like Abbott & Paxton’s odds against the army of extremely well paid lawyers Silicon Valley keeps on retainer.

Just curious, why does Texas do all this stuff late at night? What do they do all day?
tweet to their followers about what good christians they are and how much they hate the government.
Thursday (she/her, they/them)
How does Texas have the ability to tell social media sites what to do? I assume this is all for stupid show because Twitter and Facebook are not owned by the government, so I don’t even know how this would be enforceable.
