Learn how to create your own birth chart, a horoscope based on your moment of birth, and explore what it means. In this class, you will learn a bit about the history of Western astrology and how it has changed over time, work using simplified methods to cast your own horoscope, and explore what insights the positions of the planets and stars in the sky at the time of your birth provide. Special Notes : Please bring a pen and pencil to write with, extra paper to jot down notes, and your date, time, and location of birth (the more accurate the birth info, the more accurate your horoscope). About Your Instructor: Alisa Strauss, Ph.D., is an adjunct assistant professor in Anthropology at UC and has spent years researching and teaching about religious practices around the world at the undergraduate and graduate levels. This includes instructing people methods of divination (a.k.a. fortune-telling) including Tarot, Runes, and Astrology. She is also an exhibiting artist and has experience working in graphic design as well as creating and designing stained glass pieces, blown glass sculptures, jewelry, paintings, and pencil and ink artworks.
