[un]Con returns to empower discussion, collaboration, & action towards building ownership and opportunity for Black artists in XR and beyond [un]Conference is not your ordinary work convention. This 4 day retreat calls for Black creatives, activists, artists, thinkers, doers, technologists, and all around dope individuals to create a shared knowledge experience under the common umbrella of liberation. In this gathering, we intend on holding court to empowering discussions, collaborations, showcases, and building actionable steps on building ownership and opportunity for Black artists in XR and beyond. [un]CON 21 is our safe retreat space for burgeoning Black creatives looking for mentorship and growth, as well as seasoned creatives looking to redefine their art in the face of cultural evolution. Here's some more specifics... Yo, what's an [Un]Conference? An [Un]Conference is just a gathering where the participants set the agenda. As of right now, we've got 3 totally open days (well, except for our annual worker-owner meeting) that we get to co-create and program together on Monday morning, the first full day of the Conference. What types of sessions can I organize? Any kind you want, really, and about any topic that's on your mind! Everyone should plan to lead or co-lead a session at the event. We've had people demo their XR experiences, talk about filmmaking, perform a poem or song, and create wellness spaces. Let us know if you need help crafting a session. While there is no set time limit for sessions, in the past they've averaged 1-2 hours. What is the XR Showcase? Several people who are coming to the conference have XR work they'd like to show. Work can be finished or in progress. In fact, there's a good chance you'll find someone to help you finish that project you've been working on! This is an incredible opportunity to intently experience the platform we as CRUX have created - one for improved storytelling, collaboration, better art, and equity in financial abundance for Black artists and entrepreneurs.
