Screening of the Disney animated film "Raya and the Last Dragon", followed by a Q&A with members the film's animation team As part of After School Special: The 2021 School of Visual Arts Alumni Film & Animation Festival, we are pleased to present a screening of Disney's new animated film Raya and the Last Dragon (2021), followed by a Q&A with four members of the film's animation team -- Michael Altman, Nicholas Manfredi, Cat McDonnell, and Brett Taggart -- all graduates of SVA's BFA Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects department. Synopsis: In a realm known as Kumandra, a re-imagined Earth inhabited by an ancient civilization, a warrior named Raya is determined to find the last dragon. Featuring the voices of Kelly Marie Tran, Gemma Chan, and Awkwafina. Raya and the Last Dragon is rated PG, and some material may be inappropriate for very young children.  Children of all ages are welcome to attend.  Please see our COVID protocols for guests (linked below) for more information. Doors will open approximately 30 minutes prior to each screening, and guests can enjoy music videos by Samuel Bayer (BFA 1987 Media Arts) in the lobby while waiting to enter. Bayer, the director behind iconic videos like Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and Green Day’s “American Idiot”, will be present at select After School Special 2021 screenings for brief Q&As preceding the feature films. Ticket Information All After School Special 2021 screenings are free and open to the public. General Admission RSVPs via Eventbrite are appreciated, but not necessary, and do not guarantee admittance.  Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
