Description
Fall Gathering for pastors, church leaders, and their wives. Rhythms of Rest Pastors, wives and church leaders are invited to the NPD Fall Gathering 10 AM - 2 PM October 19th, GracePoint Church in Bismarck, ND October 25th at Bethel Church in Fargo ND The work of pastors and church leaders is uniquely challenging. Research done by Michigan State University on the characteristics of various kinds of work concluded that, "the breadth of tasks performed by local church pastors coupled with the rapid switching between task clusters and roles that appears prevalent in this position is unique. I have never encountered such a fast-paced job with such varied and impactful responsibilities.” An essential part of successful dealing with the regular challenges of ministry much less the extra challenges the have come over the past year and a half is to have a healthy habits of personal rest and renewal. Part of our time this year will focus on the biblical teaching about and practical ways to develop those habits. This year we are excited to have Kelly Johnson the director of Pastoral Care for the North Central District of the EFCA and his wife Jola join us to share about importance of Sabbath and healthy rhythms of rest for church leaders. The Johnsons currently live in Hector, MN, and have two adult children. Kelley has a unique background in both ministry and law enforcement, having degrees in both. Following a 24-year career in law enforcement, Kelley has been serving with the NCD in Pastoral Care since 2008, with a focus on rest, coaching, encouragement, and sabbaticals. He completed his ordination with the EFCA in 2020. His nose (or his ears) can often be found in a good book or audiobook, having recently experienced a renewed love for reading, while his hands are often dirty from tending his gardens. Jola also shares a love of good books and has served the Hector community as a librarian for over 30 years. Her wisdom and compassion are coupled with a listening ear and a caring heart. Pastors, church leaders and their wives to meet together either on Tuesday, October 19th at Grace Point in Bismarck or Monday October 25th at Bethel Church in Fargo. We plan to meet at 10:00am CST and end at 2:00pm CST. Both sessions are the same so that you can choose either the one that works better for you, date or location wise. This time will also include opportunities for you to share and pray with each other about the challenges and the blessings of this ministry season. I will also share some brief updates on news from around the district. There is no cost to register and lunch will be provided. We would like you to register through Eventbrite by October 8th (for food planning and space reservation purposes).
