A one day event focused on growing the export of hardwood lumber from the Southeast US. The discussions involve premium species that are traditionally exported like oak and yellow poplar. Also being discussed are the minor species like beech, sycamore, red maple, sweet gum, tupelo, blackgum and hackberry.
Discussions will be led by industry professionals involved with producing and marketing hardwood lumber. Other topical speakers come from lumber associations, government forestry and related governmental agencies, economic development groups, etc.
Topics covered includes reports of Southeast forest inventories, trends of hardwood lumber exports, current major and minor markets, hardwood lumber production capacity, port export abilities, export opportunities, etc.

The Wood Products Extension Department at North Carolina State University supports the wood products industry in North Carolina and beyond. It is our mission to provide support to the wood products industry as an outreach service of NCSU and the Cooperative Extension Service.
