Please join us for a talk by Jeremy Tessmer about artist Edward Borein and his many artist friends from his years in Santa Barbara.
Among the talented artists feattured in the exhibition are Colin Campbell Cooper, Frank Morley Fletcher, John Gamble, Alexander Harmer, Childe Hassam, Albert Herter, Clarence Mattei, Thomas Moran, William Louis Otte, DeWitt and Douglass Parshall, and Alexis Podchernikoff.
About the Speaker
Mr. Tessmer is an art historian and gallery director at Sullivan Goss: An American Gallery in Santa Barbara. At the gallery he is also the curator of nineteenth and twentieth century American art.
The Exhibition
The talk is held in conjunciton witht the exhibition, Borein and His Circle of Friends, which honors one of Santa Barbara’s most celebrated citizens and artists, Edward Borein and his many artist friends.
Among the artists featured are Carl Oscar Borg, Colin Campbell Cooper, Maynard Dixon, Frank Tenney Johnson, John Marshall Gamble, Alexander Harmer, Fernand Lungren, Thomas Moran, and Charles M. Russell.
For this occasion, a Santa Barbara has family generously loaned twenty-five of his watercolors, showcased in the Borein Gallery.
The exhibition is on view September 22- January 22. It was created and organized by Marlene R. Miller.
