Hello, I am a fremont homeowner posting. This is a public advisory for those partnering with or hiring Jeremy Totten. Be advised that Jeremy is a very smooth and talented conman. Bottom line - this person is not interested in doing your gig. He is interested in figuring out ways to go to Home Depot so he can hurry you into buying very expensive equipment (using various VERY convincing arguments). Then he disappears with the equipment. We are assuming that he can return that equipment to Home Depot and get store credit, which he then redeems on projects for another customer, so it's like cash to him. Details (for those who care) ========================= Day 1: bids $1150 for labor for a backyard pergola. Shows up late, works for a few hours, achieving very little. Is on his phone 80+% of the time. In the middle of the day, convinces my wife that we need to buy $600+ of stuff (I told her $200 Max but he is VERY convincing). Of that amount, over $400 is completely unnecessary equipment that he promises to return, saying that it was accidentally put on our card, and should have been on his card. End of Day 1: Convinces me that I should give him a $200 advance. Day 2: Doesn't show up - allegedly accident on freeway. Day 3: Shows up, asks to go to Home depot, then calls from there, asking me to buy 600 dollars of stuff. I refuse. Calls back 5 minutes later saying that he managed to find cheaper stuff, and I pay $277. Home Depot emails me an invoice a moment later and the invoice has a very expensive LED light (he's only working with us during the day). Calls and texts go unanswered. Goodbye Jeremy Totten. I am sure the cell number is changed by now. Bottom line - He disappears with $200 cash and $600 of home depot equipment that he can return very easily and get store credit. BUYER OR WORKER BEWARE. We will, at our cost, post this in 2 sections for a year, so other people are not screwed over by him. We've also registered police complaints and sent this information to his neighbors (We know his address).
