Description

CAZCA and the Metro Phoenix EcoFlora are celebrating National Public Lands Day! Take part in a casual and fun hike at South Mountain with us as we enjoy and connect with nature. Join us to learn more about the public lands and wilderness areas we have in Arizona while hiking a portion of the Box Canyon Loop Trail. We will also be exploring and learning about iNaturalist, a free mobile app to help identify plants and wildlife. Come and enjoy the wonderful desert with us and celebrate. Masks are required. Parking: There is ample parking near our meeting spot (see map below). Where to meet: We will meet in front of the South Mountain Environmental Education Center (see map below). What to bring: Face masks, appropriate clothing and footwear, and don't forget plenty of water! Contact: Should you have any questions the day of the event, please email [email protected]. The Metro Phoenix EcoFlora is a collaborative community science project that is making plant science meaningful and open for everyone, while we learn about the biodiversity of our urban desert home. We need your help! This is an opportunity to contribute to real-life science while studying plants in metro Phoenix, what is happening with them, and how these plants are interacting with other organisms. We host workshops and community science events centered around using iNaturalist, making observations and learning more about the biodiverse organisms that call metro Phoenix home.
