Understanding Grief Carson McLane and Greenleaf welcome you to our two part Grief Seminar!Featuring Internationally known Author, Professor Emeritus & Speaker Kenneth J. Doka, PHDGrief: What Helps When It Hurts Friday, October 22, 2021, 6-7:30pm Tickets are free. This session explores the ways that grief affects us – including physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Grieving a significant loss, whether by a death or separation, affects not only the way that we feel but also the ways that we think and behave. While each of us is different, there are things that we can do to help those around us and even ourselves as we cope with loss, an inevitable though painful part of both love and life. There are signs that we should be aware of, as well, that we or those we care about may need the help of counselors, clergy, or support groups as we cope with especially complicated losses. Objectives: At the conclusion of this session participants will be able to:1. Understand the varied ways we may experience grief;2. Understand the factors that make the experience of grief very individual – recognizing that every individual grieves in his or her own way;3. Explore and utilize their own strengths and resources as they cope with loss.Challenging the Paradigm: A New Understanding of Grief Associated with Mental Wellness Saturday, October 23, 2021, 9am-3pm: Full Day Seminar For CEUS's - $75 tickets with lunch included All others - $12 tickets with lunch included This presentation explores the most current theoretical perspectives on loss and grief, emphasizing six areas where understandings of grief have been challenged and developed.
