Description

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Schools in Ridgefield are now closed for all of Thursday. The schedule change is "due to ponding in roads and downed wires which would make it unsafe for buses to travel.," according to a notification from the town's Office of Emergency Management. Eversource is reporting 496 Ridgefield homes and businesses still in the dark around 11:00 a.m. Several flood warnings are in effect in Connecticut as numerous roads remain closed. The Public Works Department is advising caution due to downed wires and ponding on roads which makes it impossible to see what is under the water. OEM is advising residents to consider all downed wired live. "Residents experiencing water in their basements should use caution," OEM said in the release. "Call the Ridgefield Fire Department 203-431-2724 for safety instructions on how to proceed, especially if water reaches electrical sources."
