NEWTOWN, CT — Flood waters from Wednesday's heavy rainstorm have resulted in the temporary closure of a portion of Alberts Hill Road in Newtown, according to officials. "Alberts Hill Road is closed, due to a wash out, just after Valley Field Road North," officials said late Thursday morning on Facebook (see below). "The Town is working to address this, however, expect the road to remain closed for an extended period of time." Wednesday's storm, the remnants of Hurricane Ida that pounded states in the South, resulted in hundreds of Eversource customers in Newtown to lose power. As of noon on Thursday, 380 Eversource customers in Newtown were still without power, according to the utility company.
