Press release from the Kennebec Intra-District Schools Regional School Unit 2: September 1, 2021 I have had some questions regarding why milks are not free even though the meals are free. USDA Child Nutrition Program covers the cost of a whole meal, not the cost of the Milk. We are allowed to chose two programs to run each year. With us choosing Breakfast and Lunch, we cannot opt into the milk only program. So this is what I propose: If your child would like to take a meal from home, we can offer the milk for free if they also take a fresh fruit and veggie from the veggie bar.
