Here are the top stories today in Houston: Houston officials announced a project to link the MKT Trail to the White Oak Bayou Greenway via a trail connector over approximately 850 feet. The project is slated to begin in fall 2021 and wrap up in winter 2022, will connect the pedestrian and cycling trails to retail and restaurants in the Heights. (CultureMap Houston) Houston police found a woman shot to death on Vollmer Road near TC Jester Boulevard after the received reports of gunfire in the area early Thursday. Police didn't release the name of the victim, and detectives are searching for suspects. (KTRK-TV) Doctors in Harris County say that COVID-19 numbers look like they may have begun to plateau amid the spread of the delta variant. It could be a good sign, but it's little consolation to health care workers, who are still seeing ICUs swamped with COVID-19 patients.
