The City of Omaha's initial Recovery Plan report, required by the American Rescue Plan Act has been filed with the U.S. Department of Treasury. The Act requires local governments to submit periodic reports documenting plans for distribution of federal funds. The report is available to the public on the city website, https://www.citvofomaha.org/american•rescue-plan-act.
The City of Omaha will receive $112,591,455 million in Fiscal Recovery Funds in two distributions, 2021 and 2022. City has already received approximately $57 million.
Fiscal Recovery Funds are intended to replace revenue losses through 2023 and support programs to respond to the pandemic and promote economic recovery.
The report filed today describes preliminary plans focused on recovery, reinvestment, and rebuilding.
"We will be thorough and responsible as we consider the many opportunities to help our city recover from the impacts of the pandemic," said Mayor Jean Stothert. "This report provides a preliminary summary of our processes, community input, and our initial priorities for funding. We look forward to studying proposals that address community needs and making decisions that wilt have the greatest benefits."
The report highlights potential strategies in each of the seven priority areas:
Funding recommendations will be made to Mayor Stothert and the Omaha City Council. A timeline for recommendations has not been determined.
