Description
Meet Dilly. She's a rescue hedgie I took in roughly three weeks ago from a poor situation in Pueblo. We're guessing she's around two and a half. She was kept in a very, very small cage with no wheel. Think hamster cage. 😑 Her toenails were growing into her paws and she had a terrible skin infection, along with mites. All that's better now! She's been treated and given the all clear to find her forever person or people.
Believe it or not, she weighs less than she did, though getting her to run on a wheel is still a challenge. I've had to reinforce a wheel especially for her (she'll come with it). She'll need to be on low-fat cat food, rationed, and it's essential that her new owner makes sure she gets enough exercise. If she won't do it herself this may mean having to supervise her in a tub with a few inches of water, both to motivate her and to preserve her joint health, or taking her outside for extended periods of time to run in grass. She'll come with her special wheel as well as some food to transition her to her new diet. I can help you with selecting an appropriate food, if you'd like.
I'll only let Dilly go to a home with hedgehog experience, someone who understands the nature of the animal, especially a hedgie that will need socialization. This is not an animal for a classroom pet or for a child's pet. She will make a nice companion but she'll take work like hedgies do. As a breeder, I can't keep her or give her the time she needs, but I can make sure she's healthy, happy and in an appropriate family.
Rehoming fee of $150.
