Jane Doe Who Died In 2017 Finally Identified

PHOENIX, AZ — A Jane Doe found dead due to excessive heat in July 2017 has finally been identified as Laura Jean Jordan, according to a news release from the Phoenix Police Department. Police were initially unable to identify Jordan, after she was found near the intersection of 22nd Place and Garfield Street just hours after her death. She was eventually buried as a Jane Doe. Earlier this year, investigators with Phoenix Police Cold Case and Missing and Unidentified Persons Unit and the Maricopa County medical examiner's office began working with the DNA Doe Project to use forensic genealogy to identify Jordan. Once the team got a genetic lead, they enlisted the FBI for a fingerprint comparison, finally identifying the Jane Doe as Jordan. "Thanks to the work from the DNA Doe Project, the F.B.I. and the Phoenix detectives, Laura was given back her name and her family was given closure," police said in the news release.
