Description
Around 4pm last week on Monday, while I was at school in Pembroke, I was called over to the local McDonald's to try to help out with a stray pit that was wandering around outside. My friends and I have been calling her ginger. She is super friendly so it wasn't hard to pick her up and I immediately took her in to be seen by a vet. They put her on a dewormer, determined she is heartworm negative, gave her a rabies vaccine, and she's scheduled for her first "puppy" shot tomorrow. The vet believes she's a little over a year old. She's super thin and the vet thinks she may have some puppies somewhere (will be looking for them in the coming days). The only issue I have right now is that I have no experience dealing with malnourished dogs and my school schedule won't really allow for me to be around her much. Like I said she's super sweet, doesn't seem to be dog aggressive, seems to have had an owner at one point because she does well on a leash, in the car, and in the house. Would anyone be willing to take her in or know another good rescue? I don't want to take her to a regular shelter because I don't want her to get put down but I cannot keep her long term since I have two dogs already. She's good with them but my big pit mix isn't much of a fan of hers. I could provide all the food she needs and a bed that was given to us by a neighbor. I just really want her to get the level of attention she so desperately needs and deserves. I have contacted some local shelters but they are all at capacity. I really hope you guys can help. Any suggestions that you all may have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Oh btw we have named her ginger.
