FORMING DESERT ROCK-STYLE BAND

Meets

Pittsburgh PA

Description

Before anyone says anything, Im aware that there is no desert within 500 miles of Pittsburgh. HOWEVER, I have discovered that the very niche "desert rock" genre is a melting pot of my favorite styles of music, that being heavy metal, blues, and punk rock, combined in a way that you could fight someone or dance to it at the same time. With that in mind, I am looking for a drummer, guitarist and possibly singer to form a group in the "desert rock style." The idea for my project is unabashedly influenced by Queens of the Stone Age, and I want to do my best to play in that style without trying to overtly copy them of course. I have a number of very rough song ideas already, and would be more than willing to take the opinions of others in writing more music. The music I'm writing is mostly in dropped tunings, mainly Eb and D, and for a drummer I need someone who can drive the song like a freight train, or lay back and let it groove if need be. I plan to share rhythm and lead guitar with someone else as the songs call for it. For vocals, I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for aside from stage confidence and a powerful voice in general. I would say about half of my song ideas are fully arranged at this point, and my first goal would to be get to a studio and get them recorded. Ideally I would like anyone who responds to be within 3 years of 23 years old, because I fully intend my project to become a working band come hell or high water, and I would like us all to be young and spry enough to eventually do a small club tour or something similar. Keep that in mind if you decide to respond because my last group broke up do to lack of commitment and I would rather that doesnt happen again. Reliable transportation and professional gear are a must, we're not 14 years old playing in our dads garage anymore. I work usually a little over 40 hours a week so I understand work commitments and have no issue working around schedules and what not. We (we being my bass player and I) have arguably one of the best practice spaces in the tri-state area, equipped with a full kit and PA system. Im not picky about drugs or alcohol, were in a rock band after all, but one missed rehearsal or bad show because of that and you can pack your shit and leave. Please do not respond if you aren't planned to fully commit to my little project I have going on here. I don't expect this to get fully off the ground for some time now so there might be a state of limbo for a little bit, but please be prepared to hit the ground running when it finally does. Lets get this show on the road and bring the desert to the Steel City. Steve
