Start Up 70's, 80's, 90's Rock/Hard Rock Band

I am looking to start up a band playing Rock songs through 3 decades. I want to play great tunes...not really interested in "appeasing the dancers"mentality. My philosophy is, if you pick great songs that YOU like to play, and play them well...the rest will follow. I am also NOT interested in doing obscure tunes. I want the material to be popular Rock tunes. Please don't respond if you are older guys who like to sit down at practice, and stare at the iPad all night. I am not judging you if that is your thing, but I am trying to create a different environment. I would like everyone in this project to have the songs ready to go, so we can enjoy jamming them at practice. The term "Rock" or "Hard Rock" is a little broad in my mind...so, some songs will be negotiable...nothing too heavy! I want the music to be on the melodic side of things...no Country, or Pop songs...sorry! I have a practice PA, but need a place to practice.
