California Western School of Law (CWSL) in San Diego seeks applicants for a Maintenance Team Member. This full-time position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. The Maintenance Team member is responsible for completing maintenance work orders, including but not limited to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting. The Maintenance Team member is responsible for campus moves which include relocation of furniture, appliances, cubicles, books, etc. This position also serves to assist with event setups and break downs and performs a variety of day porter tasks. The primary responsibilities (include but are not limited to): • Performs routine tasks according to pre-determined or incident-driven schedules independently or as directed including, without limitation: Painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and hardware repairs, maintenance, upgrades, inspections, and troubleshooting. Day porter duties as necessary. • Perform moves, deliveries, installs, or changes to offices and events. • Perform preventive maintenance checks and interior/exterior building inspections as assigned. • Identify and report maintenance deficiencies on a routine basis and initiate documentation and/or contact with appropriate vendors to assure correction. • Operate a personal motor vehicle to pick up or deliver supplies to/from various sources and/or vendors, as necessary. • Carry or haul various loads from one location to another. • Recognize when various supplies are low, and requisition them as necessary. • Establish priorities for assigned workload based upon such factors as need for immediate action, work objectives, work schedule, and knowledge of future needs. • Respond quickly and appropriately to emergency or urgent situations requiring quick resolution, repair, or adjustment of various items, gears, switches, etc. • Operate ladders, scaffolds, and mechanical lifts consistent with safety training. • Perform, with team approach, other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent required. • 2-4 years’ related work experience in a multifaceted maintenance position required. • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, drywall and painting. • Ability to use basic hand tools, and electrical tools. • Must have the ability to follow written and verbal directions and instructions. • Must have the ability to read and understand specifications, blueprints, diagrams, work orders, and requests. • Read, write and perform basic arithmetic calculations, and perform routine maintenance tasks independently. • Must obtain and maintain a valid California driver’s license and personal vehicle insurance. • Must have access to a reliable vehicle and maintain a clean driving record. • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays. May be called in, on occasion, for after-hours emergencies. Computer Skills: • Must possess intermediate level of computer skills using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. • Basic knowledge of internet-based work order ticketing system a plus. • Must be familiar with internet search engines and email properties. • Aptitude for learning new technology will be beneficial.
