Where are the REAL heavy metal musicians?

Has everyone left Memphis? Got bored? Perhaps, got too old? Heavy metal guitarists used to be a dime a dozen. Even finding a steady bassist is impossible. It seems the egos and the flakes are all that are left around. Is there anyone left out there willing to put forth the time and effort into writing and recording what they love doing? This rant is geared towards the heavy metal genre, because that is what I want to write and perform. Anything else is way too civilized for my liking.
