I am looking for a good general helper / assistant to help me around my hot rod shop. Experience with automotive work in mechanical or paint & body is a plus, but not required. I looking for someone from the greater Conroe area who likes to work and enjoys being around classic cars, hot rods, race cars, horses, and other various oddball things. No hondas here. I could use help keeping the shops organized, managing inventory, servicing a 50 car collection, working on the hot rods, going racing and putting on shows as well as whatever else we can get into. For over twenty years I have specialized in vintage cars, restoring and servicing vehicles from 1900 to 1985, building race cars for land speed racing and resto-mods. DUTIES: - You are expected to be on time and work a full day. The schedule is roughly 9-6 M-F. - You are expected to treat property, equipment and vehicles respectfully. - Some buildings have A/C, some do not. You will have to work in both conditions. - You may have to work outdoors to move things, organize, or put on shows. Texas is hot in the summer. - You will help with keeping the shop cleaned, organized and stocked with supplies. - You will be required to keep detailed records of your work. - You will be required to follow written checklists and procedures - You will report to a manager who will oversee and approve all work - You need to be able to work independently at times - You may need to make drivability repairs as needed and make sure everything is properly operational on inventory vehicles. - You may be tasked with handling inventory or other functions to assist management. - You may be tasked with general shop maintenance if you possess those skills. - You must exercise attention to detail and be able to work neat and clean. - You will need to have your own proper tools in order to make repairs to vehicles or advance in skill and position to earn more. We will provide a list of what tools would most likely be needed to start if you want to move into a better paying position. The primary workplace for this position is Conroe. You will be responsible for keeping your shop area clean during and after you have performed your work. The schedule is around a 9am-6pm and Mon-Fri timeframe. I can be flexible with schedule and time off with advanced notice so long as the production is not delayed. I prefer not to work weekends if possible. I expect you to be on time. This job requires deals with expensive classic and vintage vehicles and is not for people who may be accident prone or clumsy. I am looking for someone full time but will consider a good candidate that wants part time only. If you possess a good variety of skills and ability to apply them, as well as some leadership ability, there is room for growth to manage others in the future. Pay for this position is dependent on total knowledge and ability in the range of $15hr - $22hr. Top pay for highly skilled individuals is about $40hr.
