Description

MakeItLabs is hosting an authorization class for the Enco 9X20 lathe. MakeItLabs is hosting a class on how to operate the Enco 9X20 lathe. This class offers learning on safety and rules of the machine shop, basic operation of the lathe, and basic machining principles (cutting tools, workholding, feeds / speeds, simple turning). Students that complete this class will be qualified to run the lathe in the machine shop at MakeItLabs independently. This class teaches the basic machining principles to get students comfortable doing entry lathe projects and is not designed to make machining experts or quality someone for a career in machining. No prior machining experience is required but a knack for machinery and working with tools is preferred. This Class series is limited to 4 students per class. This is done to ensure sufficient hands on time during the class. Make sure to not wear loose clothing (loose sweatshirts, coats, ties, hood draw strings, lanyards, necklaces) or clothing that can get caught in machinery such as rings and watches. Long hair must be tied back. Appropriate footwear required (No open toed shoes). This class is taught by the current machine shop resource manager Nick Serpa ([email protected]) Students should be of proper health conditions to operate machinery and should consult their doctor about any health conditions that may impact that ability prior to taking the class. Participants are required to follow all COVID protocols of the space at the time of the class.
