Learn how to salsa dance while improving your leadership and followership skills with Dr Stephanie Lindsay and Ballroom Instructor Tim Edgar Live DJ salsa dancing instruction and leadership/followership discussion , will take place in Montana State University (MSU) SUB Ballroom A on September 22. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. The interactive salsa dancing lesson will start at 7 p.m. Open floor dancing will begin at 8:30 p.m. Free and open to the public, “Salsa, Soul, and Leadership” is presented by the MSU Leadership Institute, and sponsored by ASMSU, the Office of the Provost, the Leadership Fellows Program, DISC, and Sizzling Salsa. Certified ballroom instructor, Tim Edgar and arts-based leadership expert, Dr. Stephanie Lindsay, will guide an interactive journey of salsa dancing and leadership. Edgar is a DVIDA certified professional ballroom dance instructor with over 14 years of professional dance experience. He has worked with Colorado Dancesport for most of his career, helping them become one of the top studios in the nation teaching students, ages from 4 to 84. Currently, Edgar teaches ballroom dance and Latin dance in the community of Bozeman, focusing on “guiding all dancers to find themselves in their dance.” Lindsay directs the Leadership Fellows Certificate Program at Montana State University. Informed by her experience as a professional dancer, Lindsay uses arts-based and experiential learning to bring ideas about leadership to life. Lindsay received her doctorate in Leadership Studies from Gonzaga University and empowers students with the self-knowledge and competencies necessary to create positive change in the world.
