Join us for our 2nd Annual Soccer Tournament hosted by AIA Fort Lauderdale and AIA Palm Beach! About the EventAIA Fort Lauderdale and AIA Palm Beach 2nd Annual Soccer Tournament is a family- oriented event that will bring design and construction-related fields together for a fun day of healthy competition and constant networking! The Tournament will take place at the Soccer Town Outdoor fields near Pembroke Pines. The venue will include three 60’ x 108’ outdoor fields a beverage center for drinks, and food trucks as well as a space for vendors to showcase their products and services. The Tournament will consist of 12 teams composed of architects, architectural emerging professionals, architectural students, engineers, contractors, and vendors. During the length of the tournament, all players and sponsors will have the opportunity to network with attendees from Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale, as well as to reconnect with existing contacts. As a family-oriented event, kids are welcome to enjoy the fields when available as this will be a close door event. After all games are completed, an award ceremony will honor the first, second, and third places as well as the single-player with the most goals scored and the best goalie! Tournament FormatTeams are divided into three groups of four. Each group will have four teams which will guarantee each team to play at least three games. Group standings will be determined on a point earning basis described as follow: three (3) points for a win, one (1) point for a tie, and zero (0) points for a loss. The ranking in each group will be determined as follows: a) Greatest number of points obtained in all group matches. b) Goal difference in all group matches. c) Greatest number of goals scored in all group matches. Game Duration: All games during the group phase of the tournament will be 20-minute games with 10- minute breaks in between group games. Semi-finals are to be 20-minute games with 5 mins halftime break and the final will be 30- minute gameswith a 10-minute half-time break. During the tournament, there will be opportunities to network and mingle, even when games are underway. This event is about making new connections and strengthing existing ones. The AwardsAfter a full day of networking and soccer games, all will come together to the Awards Ceremony where the first, second, and third place of the tournament will be announced. We will also recognize the best goalie,highest scorer, and tournament MVP. Things to BringIt will be a full day of physical activity and constant networking, therefore don’t forget to bring: - Energy - Business cards - Soccer shoes (no cleats) - Towel - Shin Guards (optional) - Outdoor Chairs (seating is limited) - Umbrellas - Team shirt color. We encourage all teams to coordinate their shirt color prior to the event. - Sunblock - Don’t worry about bringing food or beverage, we have you covered!
