The Affair is crafted to inspire the Adult Professional, socially conscious, and philanthropic Party-Going crowd to “Party with a Purpose". Identify Your Dream presents their annual fundraising event, Bow Ties & Jeans, a classy affair with an edge. This is the organization's main fundraiser to generate its operating budget for the upcoming year, allowing them to lead more community initiatives and support the needs of the families they served. They are proud champions for the communities in Metro Detroit and understand how important it is to partner with local businesses and organizations that share the same passion for safer communities. Dream (IDYD) Foundation offers grief support for children who lost their parent(s) due to violence. IDYD was founded by Deleah Sharp after she personally observed the effect of her brother’s murder on his son. Understanding that black communities have yet to embrace mental health services and mental wellness, she encouraged her family to seek out help. It was important because even though her nephew had never expressed his grief verbally, behaviorally there were signs that emphasized his pain. Death is hard enough to process for anyone, but senseless murder leaves the family with unanswered questions, fear, and nightmares of those lasting images of their loved one. And when holidays come along it gets harder for children to experience the Christmas cheer without their parent(s). Because of this, Sweet Dreams Charitable Gala came into fruition, to offer a sense of joy during the tough season. With the support from donations and sponsors we will give over 15 children Christmas gifts to put a smile on their face and hopefully help them to begin creating beautiful memories to look back on.
