SWAMPSCOTT, MA — With some of the biggest crowds of the past two years expected in the area of the Town Hall Lawn in Swampscott Saturday, police are urging safety and travel planning for families intending to attend the Swamptoberfest day of music, food and fireworks. "Please remember to report any suspicious activity to any uniformed officer present," police said. "Large crowds are expected so if coming as a family, please take the time to talk to your children about safety and a plan if you become separated. "The Swampscott Police Department wants everyone to have a fun, safe and enjoyable evening." Swamptoberfest was last held in October 2019 because of the coronavirus health crisis. The year's event will include beer from Harpoon and will also feature wine and food trucks. There will be several parking restrictions going into effect as of 3 p.m. — and additional restricti9ons as of 6:30 p.m — for the event that runs from 4 to 9 p.m. Fireworks will begin about 8 p.m. There will be no parking on both sides of Humphrey Street from Redington Street to the Lynn line. All of Monument Avenue will be off-limits, as well as all of Reddington Street, all of Sheridan Street and Thomas Road. There will be no parking on Burrill Street from Paradise Road to Humphrey Street, and Elmwood from Paradise Road to Monument Avenue. As of 6:30, parking will also be prohibited on Shaw Road, Andrew Road, and Ellis Road from Paradise to Farragut. All streets will be posted with temporary signs in advance. Public parking is available at Phillips Park. Did you find this article useful? Invite a friend to subscribe to Patch.
