Many individuals have difficulty with understanding their anxious and stressful feelings as they often do not know where they come from or what causes them. Many people do not understand anxiety and how it works within the body and brain, including how anxious responses are normal as it is the brain’s way of keeping their bodies safe. By providing knowledge and education of anxiety, individuals can manage their anxious and stressful experiences better knowing their minds and bodies are simply responding to stressful, traumatic, and/or threatful, complex situations. Many people struggle to manage their anxious thoughts and feelings as they often feel uncontrollable. As individuals learn to challenge their thoughts, identify what they can control, and use coping skills and self-management strategies, they will be more confident in tackling these complex emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.
