Boston Hospitals To Conduct Research Study On HIV Heart Health

BOSTON, MA — Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital are currently looking for men and women to participate in a new study that will evaluate whether a medication will improve heart structure and function in people living with HIV. The hospitals are accepting participants between the ages of 40 and 70 who are on antiretroviral medications and have not had a recent heart attack or stroke. The study involves an FDA approved medication that may improve heart health, three overnight visits, and nutrition counseling over 6 months. Those who sign up will be compensated up to $595 plus transportation and meals. As part of the study, participants will also be given a physical exam and evaluation of heart disease risk through cutting edge imaging.
