AUSTIN, TX — Two men are dead after two separate deadly shooting occurred in the same southeast neighborhood. The two shooting occurred within one hour of each other early Wednesday morning, authorities said.
Austin police told reporters Wednesday they do not believe the two shootings are connected and are investigating the incidents separately.
Police said they received several 911 calls around midnight about a shooting on Burton Drive. When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wounds on the roadway.
Authorities said medics tried to save the man's life, but eventually pronounced him dead on scene. At this time, there is no suspect in custody and an identity of the victim was not available.
Following the shooting, officials received multiple 911 calls before 1 a.m. from people who said shots were fired near East Riverside Drive and Pleasant Valley Road.
When officers arrived on scene, they could not find a victim until they found a tent with blood in the area. Police said they found a man dead inside the tent. It was unclear how many people were involved in the shooting or what led up to it.
