Press release from the City of Iowa City: August 31, 2021 The 8 (Oakcrest,) 12 (Highway 1), and 10 (West Iowa City) westside transit routes will detour on the following University of Iowa home football game days, beginning this Saturday: Saturday, Sept. 4 Sept. 18 Sept. 25 Oct. 9 Oct. 16 Nov. 13 Nov. 20 As in years past, Iowa City Transit is not able to serve the areas around Kinnick Stadium or Melrose Avenue on home football games due to road closures and congestion. The 8 - Oakcrest, 12 - Highway 1, and 10 - West Iowa City detoured football routes will leave the downtown interchange at their regularly scheduled times but will follow a different route and will serve modified stops. These detours will be in effect from 6:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. Gameday bus route schedules for the detoured bus routes are available at icgov.org/busschedules. Maps of the football detour routes, modified bus stops, and real-time arrival information are located here: 8 – Oakcrest Football Detour 10 – West Iowa City Football Detour 12 – Highway 1 Football Detour University of Iowa CAMBUS provides free direct shuttle service for the public from the Downtown Transit Interchange on the 10 Block of East Washington Street. The CAMBUS "Football Shuttle - Downtown" route takes passengers to Kinnick Stadium and the UIHC / VA Hospital Campus via Newton Road before, during, and after the game. Shuttle service details and hours of operation are available here. To reach Kinnick Stadium or the UIHC/VA area on game days, Iowa City Transit's closest stops are on Benton Street at the Seville Apartments stop (8122), at Oaknoll (8123), and at the intersection of Court Street and Capitol Street (7077).
