Here are the top stories in San Diego today: One crew member was rescued, five were injured and five others remained missing Wednesday after a military helicopter crashed off the coast of San Diego. The MH-60S helicopter was conducting routine flight operations when it crashed Tuesday off the deck of San Diego-based USS Abraham Lincoln, about 60 nautical miles off the coast, according to the U.S. Navy. (San Diego Patch) The San Diego County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a new policy to construct affordable homes through a voucher program. (City News Service) San Diego County will help create nearly 1,400 affordable housing units in 20 developments across 15 communities in the region. (City News Service)The San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted to select San Diego Community Power as part of a Community Choice Energy program. San Diego Community Power includes Chula Vista, Encinitas, Imperial Beach, La Mesa and the city of San Diego as members. (City News Service) San Diego-based aid organization International Relief Teams will send 13,000 prepackaged meals, 4,680 tarps and 2,500 solar-powered lanterns this week to Hurricane Ida victims who lost power or houses.
