Press release from the Providence Police Department: August 31, 2021 Providence, RI – Effective tomorrow, September 1, 2021, the Providence Police Department VIN Station will resume vehicle identification number (VIN) inspections at the Providence Public Safety Complex Garage located at 349 West Fountain Street. Please note that the VIN Station will only be open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and are now scheduled by appointment only. To schedule an appointment please fill out the form by clicking here or visiting the City of Providence website: https://www.providenceri.gov/police/vin-inspection/ Operators who are bringing vehicles to the VIN Station for an inspection are required to line-up their vehicles within the clearly marked area designated along the south curb of West Fountain Street and await further instructions from a VIN Inspector prior to driving into the garage for service. The individual bringing the vehicle in for the inspection should be the name that is listed on the appointment sheet. Parking spaces on the ground level of the garage, located on the right-hand side as you enter, will no longer be available for employee or visitor parking as they are utilized to conduct the inspections.
