Description

MILL VALLEY, CA — The city of Mill Valley has issued a traffic advisory for the area of a local school during an ongoing construction project, officials said. The construction project in the area of Camino Alto Court and Sycamore Avenue near Mill Valley Middle School is expected to be completed by late September, city officials said. The project includes upgrading traffic signals, adding pedestrian and cyclist push buttons and sidewalk/accessible ramps at the intersection. Construction on the project started Aug. 9. "The contractor will do their best to complete the project faster than the allowed time frame," city officials said in a statement. During the project crews will need to close sections or lanes of the road and shift bike lanes or sidewalks at times throughout the construction window to allow the contractor an area to stage equipment and materials in this stretch of roadway, city officials said. Traffic detection cameras will be temporarily switched to timers, so there may be some traffic delays at the lights until the new detection camera equipment is installed. Pedestrians, cyclists, students and motorists should expect some delays. Detour paths will be provided for pedestrian access and lane shifts should be expected until the project is completed.
