JOLIET, IL — A 23-year-old Joliet man is now in the Will County Jail after police say Kelvyn Flores attacked a relative and then kicked a Joliet police officer before damaging a squad car. The incident happened around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday.
Flores was charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer, one count of domestic battery, obstructing a peace officer and obstructing justice.
Joliet police were called to a domestic disturbance in the 3100 block of West Gloria Lane, which is where Flores resides. Gloria Avenue is on Joliet's west side near Essington Road.
"Officers determined that Flores had struck his mother during an argument," police reports state. "As officers attempted to speak to Flores, he attempted to shove past them to attack a family member. Flores was intoxicated and uncooperative with officers."
Outside the house, Flores refused to let the Joliet police put him into the squad car, the agency said.
"Flores then kicked an officer multiple times until officers were able to secure him in the vehicle," police announced. "While in the back of the squad, Flores began to kick the rear windows. Flores continued to be uncooperative and spit on another officer multiple times."
Will County Jail records indicate that Flores was booked into the jail around 11:30 p.m.
