Description

The Illinois Fighting Illini were victorious in their opening day game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, winning 30-22 despite losing their starting Quarterback Brandon Peters early in the 1st quarter.  Former local standouts Doug Kramer (Hinsdale Central class of 2016), & Alex Palczewski (Prospect class of 2017) along with the rest of the Offensive Line paved the way for the Illini victory with a dominant performance against the Nebraska front 7. The Illini totaled nearly 170 yards on the ground, with Running Backs averaging more than 4 yards per carry.  The performance is nothing new for these boys, as they have both been starting multiple years, and took advantage of their extra year of eligibility to come back for more with the Illini. As Captain of the team, dominance is expected for Kramer, and despite the sky high expectations coming in, he looked to have exceeded them with a whopping 19.5 knockdowns.  His performance caught the eyes of the twitter world, from Illinois Football, to Barstool Sports, and Radio Personalities, anyone paying attention to the O line/ D line could not help but notice the pancakes this man was giving out to the Cornhuskers.  The Illini will look to expand their Big Ten lead in wins (Illinois & Nebraska were the only Big Ten teams in play opening weekend) against University of Texas- San Antonio, in Champaign, Saturday night.
