Press release from the City of Eden Prairie: 08/30/2021 To help divert waste from landfills, Hennepin County has grants available for up to $5,000 to deconstruct residential buildings. Property owners and developers are eligible to apply. Deconstruction is the opposite of construction. It's the "unbuilding" of a structure piece by piece. Deconstruction uses mostly hand tools to remove and preserve building materials for future reuse. Demolition, in contrast, uses equipment like excavators to tear down buildings.
