EAGAN, MN — Eagan residents are invited to attend a tree planting event at noon on Sept. 12 at Northview Park.
The land for the trees is provided by the City of Eagan and Dakota Electric Association provided the funding for the trees-five maples and three elms, organizer Ron Goldser said.
The event aims to bring awareness to the importance of trees in combatting airborne carbon as a cause of global climate change, Goldser said.
According to the Arbor Day Foundation, over 48 pounds of carbon dioxide are absorbed each year by a single tree, Goldser shared in his news release.
"Trees have been called the ultimate carbon storage machines," Goldser said."Certainly, trees alone cannot solve our climate issue, but they can help. It only takes asmall amount of land, a few trees and some digging for everyone in the community todo their part in combatting global warming."
