Press release from the City of Huntsville Parks & Recreation Department: 2021-09-01 City of Huntsville municipal offices will close Monday, Sept. 6, for Labor Day. This includes Animal Services, Public Transit (Orbit and Access) and Municipal Court. City offices will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7. Garbage Collection: Residential collection will be delayed by one day the week of Sept. 6-10. Monday's collection will be picked up Tuesday, Tuesday's will be collected Wednesday and so on. Garbage Collection: Parks & Recreation: All facilities will be closed, except for the splash pads at Brahan Spring Park, Bicentennial Park and the Dr. Richard Showers Sr. Recreation Center. Restrooms will not be available at the Showers Center. Parks & Recreation: Public Safety: Essential police and fire personnel will remain on duty throughout the holiday.
