WORCESTER, MA — Several local fire departments responded to Worcester Airport Wednesday morning after a pilot reported an engine problem.
The incident happened near 10 a.m. and drew firefighters from Auburn and Leicester for a reported engine fire affecting a plane that was attempting to land at the airport. However, the Leicester Fire Department reported the plane had landed with no flames showing.
All companies dispatched mutual aid to Worcester airport for reports of a small plane coming in with an engine fire. The plane is currently on the runway with no fire— Leicester Fire (@LeicesterMAFire) September 1, 2021 A spokesperson for Massport, which oversees the Worcester Airport, reported that the plane did land safely with no reported injuries.
In February, a small plane crashed near Worcester Airport in a field in Leicester. Three people onboard and a dog were rescued alive.
